McIver was disappointed with the council’s response to reviewing recommendations made by a third-party inspector in a 215-page report. The council’s attempt to discredit the report and its findings raised concerns. McIver warned of potential enforcement actions, including the removal of mayor, councillors, or city officials, if the directives aren’t followed satisfactorily. The council’s ongoing dispute with the investigation and the inspector has led to tensions between the province and the city council.
