The Chestermere city council is resisting a province-ordered inspection of its governance and accusing the inspector, George Cuff, of criminal activity and presenting false information. The inspector’s report found that the city was managed improperly. The mayor, Jeff Colvin, claims the inspector was biased and didn’t provide evidence in his report. The province had issued 12 binding directives to address the issues found in the investigation. The mayor’s refusal to accept the findings may lead to the council’s dissolution. Political scientist Lori Williams believes the council is headed for dissolution due to their insistence on rejecting the inspection report.
